It has been a year since our mother opened the door of the Clinic and was greeted by Angela. Her reassuring and kind words from day one gave us hope. The experience of coming to Dr. Vaisman’s Clinic was very different from what we had before.
There is much public discussion of health care quality these days, but we care about it much more, when our loved ones get sick. We frantically looked for “the best” doctor, hospital and treatment. Living in Boston area, we tend to assume that the best are to be found in the large teaching hospitals. For almost 10 years my now 85-year- old mother has suffered from severe chronic back pain. She spent hours in waiting rooms of other pain clinics. The visits were short, the bedside manner curt, and the treatment the same: increasing doses of opiates (oxycontin, morphine), despite increasing side effects and no relief. A discussion of newer treatment methods, such as intrathecal pump, was dismissed. Fortunately, there is a world outside the ivory tower, and in it we found relief for my mother. Dr. Vaisman and Dr. Ordia of the Pain and Wellness Clinic in Peabody listened carefully and with sympathy considered all options and provided effective treatment for my mother’s pain. It is remarkable that these doctors can combine high quality cutting edge treatment with the kindness and compassion that we could not find elsewhere. Karen never failed to spend as much time as my mother needed not only providing her with highly skilled care but also just listening to her complaints. Thank you for your patience.
At this special time of the year, we want to wish you all: the people who we get to see when we are in the office and the ones that are invisible to the patients, but help to make the office the state of the art clinic that it is.
I hope my letter of gratitude to these doctors and their staff will help others looking for help.
