Karen Little, NP

Karen Little NP, joined Pain and Wellness Center in March 2004. She previously worked at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital's interdisciplinary inpatient chronic pain program. She also ran an outpatient substance abuse clinic, which included opioid, alcohol, and benzodiazepine detoxification services.

Prior to working as a nurse practitioner, Ms. Little was the managing editor of The Integrative Pharmacist and a writer for OneMedicineNews.com, two professional publications on complementary and alternative medicine. She is a clinical preceptor for nurse practitioner students at MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston. She also regularly lectures to other healthcare professionals on medication options for treating pain.

She has a bachelor's degree in rhetoric from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine and a master of science in nursing degree from MGH Institute of Health Professions. She is an ANCC board-certified family nurse practitioner. She is the managing editor and a frequent contributor to Pain and Wellness Center's educational publication for healthcare providers entitled, The Painless Messenger.

In the fall of 2009, Ms. Little will begin her studies in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, while continuing to practice full time at the Pain and Wellness Center.
